Recently I’ve been involved in making some big and difficult decisions. The idea of being true to oneself sounds relatively straight forward, however, at times it can feel far from it. It has the potential to cause pain not only to those we care about, but also to ourselves. Sometimes it might feel easier to ignore the guidance of our inner voice, particularly if what it’s telling us will be painful for others and ourselves. It can be tempting to rationalise our way out of listening to our inner voice, turning to the advice of friends, family and experts to justify not following it. However, deep inside we always have our own answers. Sometimes we just don’t like to hear them.
My experience is that if we continue to ignore our inner voice, whilst we may be able to dull it temporarily, it never goes away and often it ends up coming back louder and stronger than ever. Perhaps it might be about a relationship not being right. Perhaps it might be about a job not being right. Perhaps it might be about a lifestyle choice not being right. There’s any number of things our inner voice might call to us about.
Deep inside our authentic self always knows what’s in its best interest, but often our head doesn’t want to listen. It may not want to acknowledge that it’s time to move on from or let go of certain things. Our head seeks to eliminate pain, so it pretends that everything’s fine the way it is. …yet that little voice deep inside continues to remind us that it’s not.
The commitment to follow our inner voice and be true to ourselves may not always be an easy path, yet my experience tells me, it’s always in our highest good.
Here are 10 reasons why:
- It can empower us to realise our full potential and fulfill our soul purpose; to live our best life.
- It can empower others to realise their full potential.
- It can lead to much more fulfilling and rewarding circumstances, even if we may experience short-term pain.
- It can maximise our overall personal wellbeing.
- It can maximise the overall wellbeing of humanity.
- It can maximise the overall wellbeing of the planet.
- It can empower us to grow and evolve.
- It can empower others to grow and evolve.
- It can put us in a position of strength to give the best of ourselves to those we care about.
- It can reduce the amount of pain we ultimately feel, for example the pain we feel by following our inner voice now may be significantly less intense than the pain we may feel if we don’t act/act on it down the track.
Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!!!
I loved all the ten reasons you gave. All of them.
This will motivate me to be true to myself =)
Thanks again
